Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

This style of karate provides a framework that allows students to build confidence, strength, fitness and self-defense skills through the demands of hard training.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the flip side to the Kyokushin Karate classes. It is a form of grappling that has elements of Judo, Japanese Jujitsu and free style wrestling.

This sport is the ultimate chess game where students learn to manipulate the joints and limbs of their opponents whilst creating a situation where the opponent must either submit or face getting hurt. That is the beauty of BJJ. Students are exposed to their vulnerability on a regular basis without having to face getting knocked out or badly bruised. Once you are taken to the point where you can no longer continue, you simply tap (submit) and you can restart the match.

The self-defense aspect of BJJ is highly applicable and can be used by smaller students, due to its focus on technique over power. This makes it desirable to both women and children. RMA is very lucky to be affiliated with Professor Anthony Perosh, Owner of Team Perosh who has a wealth of experience and knowledge. Anthony has recently retired from the UFC and has competed and placed at the highest level BJJ Tournaments from around the World. He is a student of the World-Renowned Instructor Master Carlos Machado.
